INTERSECTIONS Presents Hueman Prophets

Hueman Prophets
February 24, 2012 - February 26, 2012

In 2007, Hueman Prophets was extremely well-received at New York’s famed Hip Hop Theater Festival. This dynamic duo (Jabari Exum and Baye Harrell) is back by popular demand in their hometown Washington, DC to perform “Read: White and Blue.” Through polished lyricism and captivating delivery, they explore the connection between the middle-class and working-class experience… or the lack thereof. This play fuses a series of short musical vignettes with the story of an author who struggles to complete his second novel about an ex-con turn t-shirt vendor. His detachment from the urban experience propels him into a whirlwind of possible scenarios as he attempts to bring his vision to life. The themes of perception, responsibility, and self-reflection bring this piece to a full-circle exploration of social class and race as it pertains to the Hip-Hop generation.
