An evening of contemporary ballet to cinematic and pop scores.
Dancing between precision and off-balance majesty, X Marks The Spot innovates contemporary ballet counterpoint to themes of human connections, time, and rhythm. An evening of athletic dance, Dissonance Dance Theatre brings classical and cinematic musical scores together creating unforgettable moments for the whole family.
In the spirit of intersectionality, X Marks The Spot addresses the form of classical ballet against the musical sound that has become familiar to popular moviegoers – finding connections from dance’s regal past to its possible new reality.
The dance work dives into asking the question of “How does ballet fit into a world of TikTok and secular music?” Through investigation X Marks The Spot provides a “sum” of contemporary ballet that diversifies, entertaining today’s theatre patron as well as the balletomane.
Additionally, through a racially diverse array of music and cast. Dissonance Dance Theatre strives to bring ballet to new audiences through the lens of 2023.
