“Polyscope” is a multimedia dance performance examining a common human experience: the lifecycle of the wildfire we call “passion.”
If this spark is found in childhood, what does dancing around the flame look like throughout a lifetime? “”Polyscope”” will strike the match, dance recklessly, and harness the power of passion.

ABOUT THE ARTIST
Motion X Dance Company (formally Motion X Dance DC) is a contemporary dance company based in Northern Virginia. The company was founded in 2013 by Stephanie Dorrycott with the goal of creating a contemporary modern company that supports the individuality and artistic development of dancers. Motion X creates relatable dance pieces that reflect on the human experience, illustrating the real world from an artistic point of view. Our mission is to share innovative and thought-provoking dance works to all kinds of people, presented from choreographers that value each artist and offer a safe and collaborative working environment. The artists of Motion X use their technical skill as a base to explore further, discovering unique and distinct styles of movement. Through this process, our repertoire opens up a deeper connection to the community and is visually appealing to the widest audience possible. Motion X has been presented along the East Coast in many venues including the Atlas Performing Arts Center, The Millennium Stage at the John F. Kennedy Center, The Grace Street Theater in Richmond, VA, and The Charlotte Ballet Theater in Charlotte, NC. The company was selected to perform Dorrycott’s work, “Turning Point,” at the 36th Annual Choreographer’s Showcase at the University of Maryland in 2019. Most recently Motion X was invited to be a part of the Kennedy Center REACH Opening Festival and presented “The Fate of Choice” at the 2020 Atlas Intersections Festival with high acclaim. After a brief hiatus, Motion X is making their return to the stage and has kicked started their Open Class Series as a way of providing high quality dance training to their community. Motion X is now a resident company of the Greater Washington Dance Center in Reston, VA.
