June 10 – 11

For this group of young people, attempting to navigate the world and their place in it means sharing who they really are, but sharing their ideas, experiences, and opinions could bring unwanted consequences from the people closest to them. They have normalized this behavior and believe nothing will change. As they are becoming more aware and informed on the systems they’re up against that serve to marginalize them (i.e., sexism, racism, classism, etc.) they grow more aware of how much they are affected by these systems and feel helpless to do anything. With this growing awareness during a time where reputation is one of the most important issues, will these young people decide to continue to let current social norms keep them silent to the point of canceling themselves, or will they own who they are and give themselves and each other permission to live the way they truly want to live?
