This gripping thriller is set on Christmas Eve as a philosophy professor is stopped by a veteran law enforcement officer who accuses her of having planted a bomb that will explode at midnight. The investigator confronts the professor with what he sees as incriminating evidence which the accused dismisses as overly-aggressive law enforcement and paranoia about an academic who has a critical stance towards the government. The production raises important questions regarding terrorism, the rule of law, surveillance, civil liberties, and police conduct. The play was written by Daniel Kehlmann and translated by Christopher Hampton.
