Ballet, Brushstrokes, and Beats is a captivating dance experience that weaves classical, neoclassical, and contemporary Ballet together to bring fine art and music into motion. This program displays thrilling pieces from choreographers both near and far, featuring company founder Diana Movius’ newest commission, Atlantic Paradox, and a company premiere from world-renowned choreographer and dancer, Roudolf Kharatian. Further, choreographers Alvaro Palau, Adam Chavis, and Asami Seki offer audiences their personal experiences of celebrating the profoundness of life’s quiet and loud moments. Audiences will experience the music and exhibitions that sparked these creations, discovering the vibrant interplay of sound, movement, and visual arts.
Moveius Contemporary Ballet works at the intersection of policy and performance, creating a path for ballet to speak to contemporary stories. Pushing the boundaries of ballet to portray relevant issues. The art of ballet and modern are used as a medium to invite thoughtful reflection. Meanwhile, we aim to catalyze bold new choreography in the Nation’s Capital to increase opportunities for dancers, audiences, and students to experience the performing arts. We accomplish this through offering education, rehearsal, and presentation opportunities at our flagship arts center, Dance Loft on 14.
